Dr. Laurent Guinand

Name: Dr. Laurent Guinand

Laurent holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Paris XIII. He is also a graduate of the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy at Tufts University and of the Ross School of Business from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.

He is the President of GiraMondo Wine Ventures and CAEA's wine protocol and etiquette advisor.

He would like to share the following with our CAEA members -
I truly believe that once you start to taste wines, you start a wonderful journey of discovery of terroirs, viticulturists and wine maker skills and above all yourself, what you like and what you do not like and why. Understanding the great diversity of wines is one of the most interesting challenge to meet and one that I take pride to accompany people. Above all, wine is about people as reminded by Victor Hugo who one said: “God made water, but Man made wine”.

Her real name is Ms. Liwen Huang.

Current Position: Marketing Director at an Aviation Finance Company in San Francisco, and a content contributor for The New China Etiquette Newsletter.

Pearl Lin Ulrich: Vice President of CAEA

Pearl Lin Ulrich was born and raised in Taiwan. After receiving her BA in English from Chinese Culture University, she worked as a program coordinator for Ars Formosa Company, a leading performing arts agency where she organized Asia performance tours for Trisha Brown Dance Company, Russian National Orchestra, Ivo Pogorelich, and The Little Singers of Paris.

In 1995, she was cast by Buena Vista Productions to host her own TV show “Disney Discovery” for the Disney Channel. Her show was aired in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore. She moved to California in 1997 and has been working as an interpreter for Language Line Services (formerly known as AT&T Language Line) for nine years. She is also a certified docent for Music for Minors and is currently teaching FAME (Fine Art Miniature Experiment) at Niles elementary school in Fremont. Pearl is married and has two children.
